Winter is right around the corner and with that comes the cold air of the season and the need to stay warm. How do we do this? Some of us have enough hair on our bodies that we do not need to worry about it. Others will put on three sweaters and a couple of pair of sweat pants. Still others prefer to crowd the heating duct or the heater itself.

Regardless of how you plan to stay warm this winter, the thought should be given to the new and improved portable heaters that are now available. No, these are not the same heaters that you had in the pantry two decades ago. These heaters are stylish and do a heck of a job heating a room, rather than a small portion of a room.

The Bionaire Portable Console Heater has served us quite well for a number of reasons. For one, it is not a bad looking piece of equipment. In other words, you can leave it out if you are having guests over and you will not be embarrassed by having it seen.

The Bionaire is also pretty easy to use. I mean while the heater contains a few interesting gadgets, it also is still just a heater. You can turn it on “high”, “low”, or fan settings. Outside of those functions, there is nothing. The Bionaire is almost as easy to use as the hairy guy who does not need a portable heater.

Which leads me to the portability. The heater really is easy to move. Remember your parents portable heater? How heavy it was? How the wheels felt as if they would come off as you rolled it to another room? Neither of these are problems or concerns any longer. This is a very portable heater.

So what makes the Bionaire special? Again, remember the 20 year old heater and how it was incredibly proficient at heating a four foot area? Well, the Bionaire will keep a mid-sized room warm. My fiance uses ours in the master bathroom and it is, without a doubt, the warmest room in the house when she turns it on before getting into the shower.

One problem I have with the Bionaire is that they sell it as a digital heater. First of all, what in the world is a digital heater? Secondly, now that I know what a digital heater is, I am not sure that Bionaire does not mis-lead the purchaser ever so slightly. What I mean is that the word digital is mainly used when discussing a technology today. The word digital refers to a thermometer with the Bionaire. Yes, it is a digital thermometer that assures us that the thermostat and temperature will match, but still.

A second problem that I have is that Bionaire wants $120.00 for this heater. I am not sure about you, but in my mind, a heater should not cost much more than a fan. Even if you double the cost of a fan, you are looking at $80.00 (For an expensive fan) and that is a pricey heater. I am not sure why the cost is so high, but I would wait to purchase until spring when the price may come down.

I am a big fan of the Bionaire Portable Console heater and would recommend it to anyone. I would also be sure that you realize that you are not getting something that is digitally connected. You are getting a powerful heater that can easily be moved from room to room and is handsome enough that it will not offend any guests.
