My goodness. I had such a horrible experience with this POS, that I had to go on the net to write this review and save some poor, unsuspecting buyer from wasting time to even consider this infernal piece of plastic.

I bought this at Walmart for $25 because it was cheap, small, and light. I suspect you’re looking at this because you found it at Walmart for a cheap price too…

I plugged it in on the first go and got this burning hair smell. It was a mixture of car exhaust and burnt hair. Fine, the smell went a way in 30 minutes, but not before I felt a bit woozy from the fumes.

The room warmed up nicely in an hour! But the room smelled like I was sniffing into a barrel of a blow dryer. Fine, I can get used to this.

It sounded like a blow dryer too. Fortunately I figured the thermostat would turn it off when it got warm enough, and it did, but not after clicking on and off quickly few times because it was at that ethereal middle point between the switch, and the unit didn’t know if it was hot enough to shut off. Bad engineering…

Okay, I leave the thing on overnight. But I didn’t sleep that night. You know why? Yep you guessed it! That blow drying noise didn’t stop the whole night. I went to bed at 9 pm, fell asleep at 1 am and woke up at 4 am.

Recap: Sounds like a blow dryer. Imagine having a blow dryer come on every few minutes to heat up the room. That’s what it sounds like

Regarding kamel622’s review of this thing: If she plans on putting this thing in her child’s room overnight, I’d feel very sorry for that child because she wouldn’t sleep a lick. And neither would you if you buy this thing.

I returned this infernal piece of junk the next day to buy one of these babies (http://www.epinions.com/hmgd-Large_Appliances-All-Heaters-Lakewood_Oil_Filled_Heaters_7096) from Walmart (of course). It’s sitting next to me and heating my room right now. Silently.

Albeit with a funny smell. Dam, more on that in the next edition of “Cheap Walmart Appliances Gone Wrong.”
