After reading many reviews about electric oil-filled radiators, I decided to buy a DeLonghi heater. The TRH0715 cost only $34.99 at Lowes.
At outside temperatures of 20 - 40 degrees, the heater warms a room to a comfortable 60 degrees or higher. At lower outside temperatures (0 -20 degrees), the heater warms a room to about 50 - 60 degrees (depending on the settings used, how well insulated your windows are, the size of the room to be heated, etc.)
While using it (primarily at night), the heater raised my electric bill by less than $10 per month. DeLonghi claims that because of its unique design and that the radiator uses up to 36% less wattage than conventional models. This seems to be true.
Other features include:
* patented thermal slots that maximize radiant heat flow, yet maintaining the lowest surface temperature of all standard radiators on the market.
* three variable heat settings (700 watts, 800 watts, 1500 watts)
* anti-freeze settings
* noiseless
The manual states that the heater has a safety device in the event of overheating. To restart the heater, you must call the nearest Service center. I have not yet had experienced a case of overheating.
Disadvantages:
The first DeLonghi TRH0715 radiator I bought lasted only two months. That’s because as I was moving it, I picked it up and must have set it down at an angle. One of the plastic rolling snap wheels snapped off. The radiator cannot stand on its own with a snapped-off wheel, so in effect, the radiator becomes useless (unless you choose to prop up the unbalanced radiator with a brick, block of wood, etc.). Just keep that in mind. If it weren’t for the poorly-designed wheels, this radiator would be the best on the market for its price.
Also, I am a bit concerned that there is not an easy to see automatic shut-off and a 3-pronged grounded cord.
