Purchased this fan/heater combination for a bathroom that didn’t have any ventilation. Installed the fan into an existing ceiling, installation was straightforward. The vent stack is on the outside of this unit so if you are installing into existing construction , be prepared for some sheet rock repair since your opening must be cut larger than the grill covering to allow the unit to fit through the ceiling. The vendor provides stainless steel mounting hardware and the unit’s guts are galvanized and painted with a thick coat of rust proof paint so there are little rust worries. Great build quality, very solid and durable. I had to run a new circuit to this unit since the heater draws close to 1500 watts and a blow dryer would have been on the same 20 amp breaker.

This fan is super quiet, a lot quieter than fans that move half the air this unit moves. You can’t even tell the exhaust fan is running if you are 3 feet from the doorway. Panasonic makes this same unit less the heater, we purchased with heat because the bathroom it went into doesn’t have any heat ducts and we live in Northern NY. The heater takes the edge off and airflow is adjusted by removing or retracting the fan’s grill cover by compressing tension springs with your fingers. These tension springs are a really nice feature. You can pull the grill away from the ceiling and the springs will hold it in place while you adjust the heat vent fin. You don’t have to remove the grill completely to make this adjustment nor do you have to support the grill’s weight since the tension springs take care of this for you. When the unit is dirty remove the grill and run it under a faucet (its metal), dry it off and snap it back in the unit, this can all be done in less than 5 minutes with no tools.

The light is very bright, much better than incandescent bulbs and much more efficient. The night light is a nice touch as well. The night light allows you to pick up the bathroom and get there safely from across the bedroom but there is very little spill over so it does not disturb you when trying to get to sleep. A couple of dislikes:

The unit is heavy so have another helper around when you install it, I wish I did.

A little pricey but you get what you pay for.

The heat vent is positioned in the unit so the exhaust fan (when running) will suck some of the hot air the heater blows depending on how the unit is installed and the heat vent is positioned.
