My boyfriend recently purchased the Lakewood (5500) Oil Filled Radiator Heater for our apartment due to the fact that I’m always cold. Our landlord’s heat connects to ours, and if his isn’t very high, ours isn’t either. There were times when I would wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, only to read the thermostat at 57 degrees.
I grew very tired of freezing every day, so while I was away on vacation my boyfriend bought our new heater. After a week away I came home to a cozy 73 degrees. We keep the heater on through the night, which keeps the room at a steady temperature so there’s no more freezing in the middle of the night.
The Lakewood (5500) Oil Filled Radiator Heater is easy to use with it’s three heat settings. You can easily flick a switch and there are 600, 900, and even 1500 watts of heat pumping out to heat up your room. Our apartment is small, so we usually just leave it at 900 watts and turn the easy to use dial to about four. This usually keeps the heat at about 73-75 degrees, which is a very comfortable temperature range for me.
I don’t have to worry about our new heater over-heating while we are sleeping because it has it’s own internal heating element and safety thermal cut-off preventing it from doing so. It makes sleeping at night easier to know that in the morning I am going to wake up without ice on my toes.
One other thing I really like about the Lakewood (5500) Oil Filled Radiator Heater is that I don’t have to worry about it falling over and burning my carpet. It has an internal tip-over switch. As soon as the heater is tipped onto it’s side, it automatically turns off. This makes life easier knowing that my crazy dog is going to probably tip it over at least twice a day in her excitement.
I personally haven’t found any problems with the Lakewood (5500) Oil Filled Radiator Heater. I won’t be surprised if I do find some kind of problem with it, being as how it only cost us $34.86 at our local Wal-Mart. I don’t expect much for such a cheap price, but so far it has proven me wrong.
