I bought the Lakewood 792/JR heater for use at my computer desk. It’s a well designed, quiet, ruggedly constructed, safe little heater. It puts out plenty of heat to keep me warm all day as I type away by my desk. Remember that this heater will NOT heat an entire room. It’s not built for that. It’s just a small utility heater, hence the JR in the model name which stands for Junior. But, I would imagine that several 792/JRs placed strategically around a room just might do the trick.

For the cheap price, about $15, this is a powerful little heater. It’s fan forced with a non-glow heating element, so it pushes air out and stays relatively cool. It measures in at (7.625″ x 6.5″ x 12.25″). It has a 750/1500 Watt selector switch on the front as well as a dial setting so it’s easy to adjust from low to high heat.

It has nice rubber feet that provide a non-slip surface, so you don’t have to worry about it sliding off a desk if bumped. Also, it’s not top heavy or tall, so it won’t tip over easily. I don’t think it has a tip over shutoff, but it does have an overheat protector. It also has a nice study handle on the top and in the front to pack it with and is nicely sealed so your hands won’t come anywhere near the fan or element.

Lakewood says this heater is “baked enamel steel of silver metallic and charcoal veltex paint.” All I know is that means pretty darn tough. It’s a solid built little heater. It has been used for 2 years straight basically every single day all day, and is still running the same way it did when I took it out of the box I would definitely tell anyone to get it if they want a little extra heat close to them. The best part is making your hands nice and toasty after typing for a while.
